"The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: «Islam is built on five [pillars]: the testimony that there is no god but Allaah and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger, establishing prayer, paying zakaah, performing pilgrimage to the House, and fasting Ramadaan» [Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 8; Muslim, 16]."

4832 ------------ --------- --------- --------- --------- --- Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying that Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, thus stated :
I am near to the thought of My servant as he thinks about Me, and I am with him as he remembers Me. And if he remembers Me in his heart, I also remember him in My Heart, and if he remembers Me in assembly I remember him in assembly, better than his (remembrance) , and if he draws near Me by the span of a palm, I draw near him by the cubit, and if he draws near Me by the cubit I draw near him by the space (covered by) two hands. And if he walks towards Me, I rush towards him.

The Prophet of Allah (may peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Both legal and illegal things are evident but in between them there are doubtful (suspicious) things which most people have no knowledge about. So whoever saves himself from these suspicious things saves his religion and his honor. And whoever indulges in these suspicious things is like a shepherd grazing his animals near a sanctuary and therefore is liable to trespass. Verily every king has a sanctuary and the sanctuary of Allah on the earth is His illegal (forbidden) things. Beware! There is a piece of flesh in the body if it is good the whole body becomes good but if it gets spoilt the whole body gets spoilt and that is the heart.

`Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported: I asked the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) about pestilence and he said, "It is a punishment which Allah sends upon whomsoever He wills, but Allah has made it as a mercy to the believers. Anyone who remains in a town which is plagued with pestilence maintaining patience expecting the reward from Allah, and knowing that nothing will befall him other than what Allah has foreordained for him, he would receive a reward of a martyr".
Commentary: To endure patiently in a city where one resides when it is affected by plague or such other epidemics, and not to flee from it, elevates a Muslim to the level of Shahadah in the way of Allah, as is the case in certain other circumstances, like death by drowning or in maternity, etc. This order is based on the consideration that the epidemic should not spread to other cities. On the other hand, residents of other cities are ordered to refrain from visiting the affected city. The Hadith clearly shows that it does not go against faith in Allah to take steps necessary for prevention and cure. Similarly, patience in the event of sickness is a proof of one's perfect faith in the Will of Allah

Jarir bin `Abdullah (May Allah bepleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "He who is not merciful to people, God will not be merciful to him.''
Commentary: Kind treatment to God's creatures is very much liked by God. Even animals and birds are included in this category. Kind treatment with them makes a person eligible to the Mercy of God. Decent behaviour with people has been specifically mentioned in this Hadith although all creatures are covered by it.

Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Prophet of Allah (PBUH) said : "There was a man from among a nation before you who killed ninety-nine people and then made an inquiry about the most learned person on earth. He was directed to a monk. He went to him and told him that he had killed ninety-nine people and asked him if there was any chance for his repentance to be accepted. The monk replied in the negative and so the man killed him as well bringing his victims to one hundred. He then asked about the most learned man on earth. He was directed to a scholar. He told him that he had killed one hundred people and asked him if there was any chance for his repentance to be accepted. The scholar replied in the affirmative saying, `Who stands between you and repentance? Go to such and such land; there (you will find) people devoted to prayer and worship of Allah, join them in worship, and do not come back to your land because it is an evil place.' So the man went away and hardly had he covered half the distance when death overtook him; and there was a dispute between the angels of mercy and the angels of torment. The angels of mercy pleaded, 'This man has come with a repenting heart to Allah,' and the angels of punishment argued, 'He never did a virtuous deed in his life.' Then there appeared another angel in the form of a human being and the contending angels agreed to make him arbiter between them. The arbeiter angel said, `Measure the distance between the two lands and the the dying man will be considered belonging to the land to which he closer.' They measured and found him closer to the land of piety where he had intended to go, and so the angels of mercy collected his soul.

Mohammed Messenger of Allah, Peace Upon Him said, "While a man was walking on his way he became extremely thirsty. He found a well, he went down into it to drink water. Upon leaving it, he saw a dog which was panting because of thirst. His tongue was lolling out and he was eating moist earth from extreme thirst. The man thought to himself: `This dog is as extremely thirsty as I was.' So he descended again into the well, filled up his leather sock with water, and holding it in his teeth, climbed up and quenched the thirst of the dog. Allah appreciated his action and forgave his sins"
Shall we be rewarded for being kind to animals as well?'. The Companions asked'
“A reward is given for being kind to every living creature". Mohammed Peace upon him replied .
In the narration of Al-Bukhari, the Prophet (PBUH) is reported to have said: "God forgave that man in appreciation of this act and admitted him into Paradise".
In another narration Mohammed says: "Once a dog was going round a well about to die out of thirst. A prostitute of Cildren of Israel happened to see it. So she took off her leather sock and lowered it into the well. She drew out some water and gave it to the dog to drink. She was forgiven her sins on account of her action".
Commentary: This Hadith emphasizes the importance of kindness to every creaturebecause God is pleased with such kindness.
God's Quality of mercy and forgiveness is immensely vast. He may forgive a person even on a minor good action done by him

The Prophet Mohammed(PBUH) said, " Belittle not any good deed, even meeting your brother with a cheerful face".

Narrated Ali:
Fatima went to the Prophet complaining about the bad effect of the stone hand-mill on her hand. She heard that the Prophet had received a few slave girls. But (when she came there) she did not find him, so she mentioned her problem to 'Aisha. When the Prophet came, 'Aisha informed him about that. 'Ali added, "So the Prophet came to us when we had gone to bed. We wanted to get up (on his arrival) but he said, 'Stay where you are." Then he came and sat between me and her and I felt the coldness of his feet on my abdomen. He said, "Shall I direct you to something better than what you have requested? When you go to bed say 'Subhan Allah' thirty-three times, 'Alhamdulillah' thirty three times, and Allahu Akbar' thirty four times, for that is better for you than a servant."

Commentary: - Anyone who gets furious quickly should be advised again and again to control his anger so that he becomes conscious of this weakness and tries to overcome it.
- Rage is a means of fulfillment of satanic aims; so it is a great evil and people are advised to make every effort to prevent themselves from this satanic device.
