The dentist dad of MICHAEL JACKSON's molestation accuser JORDAN CHANDLER has died.
An official with the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office in Newark, New Jersey has confirmed that Evan Chandler died on Monday (16Nov09)
No further details about his death were released as WENN went to press.
A 13-month police investigation began in 1993 when Chandler reported Jackson to authorities in both Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, charging the King of Pop with molesting his then 13-year-old son .
The boy and his father also brought a civil lawsuit against the singer, which did not go to trial because Jordan received a $22 million (GBP13.8 million) settlement for “personal injuries arising out of claims of negligence” from Jackson.
Both parties signed a confidentiality agreement, promising not tot talk about the case.
However, 1996, Chandler filed a $60 million (GBP37.5 million) lawsuit against Jackson and his then wife Lisa Marie Presley, claiming the two breached the terms of a confidentiality agreement by talking about the case with U.S. news anchor Diane Sawyer on ABC’s PrimeTime Live the year prior. In 1999, a court ruled in Jackson's favour and threw out the lawsuit.
The case blighted Jackson's personal life until his tragic death in June (09) - causing many of his former friends and fans to keep their distance from the King of Pop, who was also acquitted in June 2005 on 14 charges of child molestation, a year-and-a-half after he was accused in a separate case.
Jordan Chandler, now 29, has never spoken publicly about the case.
